Mandela Day, 18 July kick-started at Tsomo informal settlement where DPWI entourage accompanied by the Chief of staff Sibongile Sotshongaye gave out soccer kits and food parcels to the Tsomo community as a part of giving back to the community following suit this year’s theme: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are”.
18 July, which is Nelson Mandela’s birthday, was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as Nelson Mandela International Day in 2010. The day recognises and gives credence to the former President’s commitment to human rights, conflict, resolution and reconciliation.
The Chief of staff: Sibongile Sotshongaye, a philanthropist that he is said: “As world-class citizens, we have a global call to do what we can for the betterment of our communities, we cannot solely depend on government, we must be the positive change we want.
