An office park, in the outskirts of Libode near Mthatha, is a beacon of hope, not only for the staff members that work there every day but for the community at large as they get to be served in a more dignified manner. A good example of Batho Pele.
The R31 million rands project implemented by the department on behalf of the Department of Social Department, is one of the many projects that is proudly spearheaded by a female Architect, Nozibele Yotwana.
The scope of the project included: the completion of defects from previous contractor, installation of partitioning boards, installation of windows, plastering, finishing coat, ceiling structure, installation of shop fronts, installing of manhole covers, hand rails and balustrades, ceiling structure, ceiling boards and furniture delivery.
The project has created a lot of job opportunities in the community of Libode as 18 people were employed during the execution of the project. In this 18, 10 were adult men, three (3) adult women, two (2) young men, two (2) young women and one (1) disabled woman.
“We would like to thank the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure for the wonderful job it has done. Now we can be more productive and efficient. There is also exercising equipment that have been made available for all staff members just to keep us active, We are grateful for everything”, said Nokwanda Sizani, one of the staff members.
