The Hon MEC Pemmy Majodina together with Municipalities, National and Provincial departments gave a progress report to Sterkpruit community members on the issues that were raised on the previously held Imbizo. The session was a follow up of Imbizo that was held on the 24th of August at Bunga hall.
Departments present were Water and Sanitation, Health, Land Claims and Reforms, Rural Development and Agricultural Reformed, Social Development, Human Settlements, Home Affairs, Public Works and Transport. Representatives from the departments were given an opportunity to present their service delivery plans for the current financial year 2018/19.
When addressing the masses the Hon MEC emphasised that there must be a solution for every challenge that each and every department is facing. The renovations that took place at Empilisweni Clinic in Sterkpsruit was not conducive for the patients, in a sense that construction company had to work during the week, whilst the patients were there. The communities were complaining and were unsatisfied with the situation. The Hon MEC suggested that the manager of the Empilisweni Clinic must have a plan on where they would attend patients in a healthy and conducive environment, whilst the renovations are still in progress.
The Hon MEC shared on how impressed she was, on the services she received from the Department of Home Affairs in Sterkspruit, as she was there earlier before the engagement session meeting. She indicated that the reason behind her visit was because of complaints that were raised on the previously held Imbizo on the services the communities received from the Department of Home Affairs such as que management, issuing of IDs and birth certificates.
The community members raised pertinent questions, some were responded to on the spot whilst others had to be responded to at a later stage. With the permission of the attendees Hon MEC proposed that the unattended questions will be answered on the next Imbizo that will be held on the 29th November 2018.
